Comenius visit to Hungary
Our school had the honour to host the Comenius meeting in November. Our special guests, Marcia Weekes and Cathryn Boxall, the teachers from Westcliff School in Dawlish, UK; and Annemarie Grohs and Brigitte Leinauer from Dinkelscherben, Germany, arrived at Budapest airport on 10 November, 2007. Our headteacher, Herbályné Németh Katalin, invited us for dinner after the arrival. Our guests stayed in Szélkakas Hotel in Bátonyterenye.
On Sunday, 11 November, our staff and our foreign colleagues went to Aggtelek and Jósvafő to see the famous limestone cave. We had lunch at Tengerszem Restaurant. Fortunately, we had a lot of snow and our English guests were really glad aout it. Our colleague, Kunné Tajti Ilona invited us for dinner.
On Monday and on Tuesday our guests visited English and German lessons at our school. On Mondy, 12 November, we introduced Kossuth Lajos Elementary School to our guests. The performance of the aerobics group led by Déska Ildikó was a great success. The fifth graders who attend the communicative English group gave a short performance about Halloween.We visited Kisterenye castle and the new townhall in Nagybátony. Our colleague, Hajnal Emese invited us for dinner.
On Tuesday, 13 November, our guests visited Győri Andrea's English lessons. We had a final conversation on Tuesday and agreed on the agenda. We have exchanged our works on chain games. We agreed to start an e-mail penfriend programme among our pupils. We also agreed to send each other Christmas cards and Easter cards made by our pupils. We decided towork on flashcards for the next occasion in March in Dawlish.
In the afternoon we visited the Mine Museum and went shopping in Salgótarján.We had a farewell dinner at Szélkakas Hotel. Our guests travelled home on Wednesday, 14 November.
The meeting was successful and beneficial. We hope our guests had a good time in Hungary. We are looking forward to the next occasion to meet our colleagues.
